NCTM Illuminations: Resources for teaching Math

This website has been an invaluable resource during my first year of teaching. The page is sponsored by the National Council of Teachers for Mathematics (NCTM), and has information on lesson planning, mathematics standards, activities, and links to additional resources. Each lesson plan provides a list of materials, assessment options, and the standards which are being addressed in the lesson. Many of the lessons focus on interactive group activities and accessing student's prior knowledge in order to provide engaging instruction. Although there is no specific section for literacy, most lessons incorporate communication and organizational skills in order for students to become active participants in their education.
